North Carolina defense-technology firm scales to meet growing demand for resilient communications and PNT systems. The new site significantly increases Archaius’s capacity—accommodating up to 60 engineering, operations, and mission-support personnel—and provides state-of-the-art collaboration infrastructure to connect seamlessly with team members across the country and forward-deployed partners around the world.
For Immediate Release
Durham, North Carolina — October 23, 2025 — Archaius, a North Carolina–based defense-technology company pioneering breakthroughs in resilient communications and Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems, today announced a major expansion of its Durham operations with the opening of a new headquarters facility.
The new site significantly increases Archaius’s capacity—accommodating up to 60 engineering, operations, and mission-support personnel—and provides state-of-the-art collaboration infrastructure to connect seamlessly with team members across the country and forward-deployed partners around the world.
Expanding From A Proven Foundation
The new headquarters represents a natural progression from Archaius’s original Durham office, which served as the company’s initial hub for research and early product development. As Archaius’s technologies matured into field-deployed systems supporting U.S. and Allied forces, the company required a facility purpose-built for scalable engineering, integration, and mission operations.
“Our growth reflects both the urgency of the mission and the performance of our team,” said James Upson, CEO of Archaius. “This new facility gives us the room and capability to move faster—to prototype, test, and deploy the systems that keep U.S. and Allied operators connected and informed in contested environments.”
The expanded headquarters includes secure engineering and testing labs, dedicated production and integration space, and mission-connectivity tools that mirror the real-world networks Archaius supports—ensuring teams in Durham remain tightly linked to colleagues and partners in active environments worldwide.
Strengthening Capabilities and Partnerships
The expansion follows a period of accelerated growth as Archaius moves from prototype to deployment phases of its flagship systems—GRALE C2, GRALE GPS, and TALON—which enhance communications, navigation, and awareness in degraded and denied environments.
“Our mission is to ensure that U.S. and Allied forces can communicate and navigate freely—even when adversaries try to deny them that ability,” Upson added. “This expansion allows us to bring more engineers, scientists, and operators together under one roof to deliver on that promise.”
By anchoring its engineering and operational core in Durham while maintaining global connectivity, Archaius is positioning itself as a critical partner to defense and allied organizations facing complex electronic-warfare challenges.
